Mouth Pain
Hi all...Just out of surgery on Monday...was hoping that someone could tell me about my mouth pain...Has anyone else had mouth burning...feels swollen...raw (like hamburger meat)...
Dr. O told me it was nothing, no blisters...I would be fine...All the nurses pretty much had no thoughts or cares about it...
Not sure if its an allergy, or my mom seems to think its the liquid dilauded they insisted on squirting in my mouth instead of keeping my pain pump, or just putting in my iv, which I still had in till the day I left...

Hey Kerri--are there any white spots in your mouth? Typically that's an indication of Thrush and it is easily resolved w/some Rx.
I think your mom is right...the oral dilauded--I didn't have any Rx sprayed in my mouth, but I would think that would be harsh on your mouth. I would suck on a bunch of ice chips & keep taking your pain meds & if it's not a bit better by tomorrow, call Dr. O back.

Yikes Kerri!! I do hope you find out what is going on, and that it is a quick solution so you can get out of pain.
I can say, the oral pain medicine gave me mouth sores (like ulcers you might get from too much citrus.) It took a few days of warm sal****er to get rid of them, but other than annoying they were not on the pain level which you sould like you are in.

Well, just wanted to update yall on what is going on with mouth..Dr O's office called me back..(next morning)...Asked me if it was any better and told me I did not need any meds..Just tough it out...OMG...It really is better..I can finally get in...well close to 64 oz water but today is my first day I can put protein in mouth...so I only got about 20 oz of protein...
Oh well tomorrow is another day......
